If your home was built after the mid-1990s, your smoke alarms may be hardwired and interconnected. That means that when one sounds, they all sound. If that is the case, we recommend finding an alarm that is reachable – perhaps in an upstairs hallway – and pushing that test button. We recommend you test your smoke alarms monthly.
