When you connect it to power for the first time, the Monitor will say, ‘Setup Starting’ and will enter Hot spot mode and will act like a small Access Point.
 
For iOS:
You need to manually scan for the Monitor’s hot spot using the"Settings -> Wi-Fi" option on your phone.

The Monitor will appear in the access point list with the name“Kidde-xxxx" where xxxx is a unique identifier for each Monitor.
 
If the Monitor does not appear in your phones Wi-Fi list, then go to the troubleshooting section below.
 
For Android:
Your device will scan for the Monitor automatically and when found, will appear in a list for you to select, inside the RemoteLync app.
 
If the Monitor does not appear in the list, then go to the troubleshooting section below.
 
Troubleshooting:
If the Monitor does not appear in the list, then the possible scenarios are:
 
The Monitor is already connected to Wi-Fi

If your Monitor is already connected to a Wi-Fi network, then it will not enter hot
spot mode.

If your Monitor is saying “Press setup button on Monitor,” then you need to start the “Add Device” process again in the RemoteLync app and choose the option  ‘Press setup button on Monitor’ during the first step of registration process.

The Monitor is not in the correct mode:
 
Reset the Monitor by pressing the end of a paperclip into the hole on the side while it's powered on. Green, red, and amber LEDs will flicker, and a voice will announce, "Setup starting."
   
The Monitor should say “Setup starting” or “Initiate enrollment using app”.
     
Repeat the above instructions for iOS or Android

If your Monitor is saying “Press setup button on Monitor”, then you need to start the Add Device process again in the RemoteLync app and choose the option for “Press setup button”during the first step of registration process.
