The system has a pet mode with some adjustment for sensitivity.
Both the mode selection and the adjustment are controlled by options in the smartphone app.
Ramifications:
- In this mode its possible to still get a trigger occasionally and because its desensitised its possible to miss a person depending on their weight etc - just like other systems that desensitise the motion sensor.
- Battery life is reduced when in pet mode because the system uses power to process and reject pet triggers.
- In Pet Mode, notifications are delayed by 3 or more seconds because the system has to make a decision as to whether the trigger is a pet or a human.
- When in Pet Mode the siren feature is disabled.
If you are concerned about the above side-effects of pet mode, here are some other options to avoid pet triggers:
- be careful about where the camera is positioned and/or
- mask the lower half of the infrared sensor to avoid the floor area; a bit of blu-tack works well!
